Faith like a child

Funny story – I was listening to the radio today on the way in to work
and they were talking about the upcoming time change. The BIG question
was: How many of you out there have ever had a time change event?
Another words, have you ever been late or extremely early to where you
were going because you forgot to change your clocks forward or back. I
know I have!!!

Mine seem to always be in the spring however, which stinks. Why you
might ask? Well…..Spring Forward. Showing up to church for the last
service of the day, going in and setting down, and then realizing that
they are starting to take the chairs makes you feel quite stupid. The
even funnier thing is trying to make your way out of the church as if
you were there all along so you don't feel even more stupid. And yes,
this has happened multiple times…..LOL!

Anyway, I felt quite a bit better about myself after the announcer told
his story. This guy got his entire family ready and headed for church.
When they showed up to the church the parking lot was completely empty.
So the Dad's first thought out load to his family was, [paraphrased]
"Rapture occurred and we are all got left behind." And then the funny
thing….the faithful thing….the infinite wisdom, if you will, rang out
from the back seat – "Dad….God doesn't rapture cars."

Oh the faith of a child; you have to love it. How often are we blinded
by our own ignorance, fear, guilt, anger, or misconceptions. We let
simple things over take us instead of just being that little child that
follows faithfully, serves obediently, loves unconditionally. When
Christ was asked "Who then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
He replied, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little
children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore,
whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the
kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever welcomes one such child in my name
welcomes me." [excerpts from Matt 18:1-5].

I know you all have grown up; you have or are working on having your own
children; but isn't it comforting to know you have a heavenly father
that wants you to forget all that for a moment, and climb up into His
lap and be comforted….to be loved….to be held…..to be healed….to be
forgiven. He wants you to be a child again because children are
carefree. They love, they live, they are joyful, they have faith in
their father. There are no inhibitors that get in the way of their
relationships.

Is there something in your life that is getting in the way of you loving
God like that? Are you carrying too much baggage that you feel you
can't let go of and just be a child again? God will take you burdens,
He will wipe away all your tears, He will carry you when you need it
most - 28 "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will
give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am
gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30
For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." ~ Matt 11:28-30. True
words from a loving father. The Bible is a love letter from your
heavenly father to you. Read it…give over your burdens to Him….and be
His child again.

My Prayer:
God free us from the chains of this world. Help us to give up our own
inhibitions and just be your children again. Each of us have our own
issues – give us the comfort we need in our own pain created by fear,
anger, or guilt. Help us to see you as you truly are and open up our
hearts to be reconciled with you fully once again. Be our protector and
our shield, giving us your peace, which will guard our hearts and our
minds in Christ Jesus! AMEN.
